Strongest Spending in Two and a Half Years

Personal consumption expenditures rose 3.4% at an annualized rate in the third quarter. This follows declines in three of the last four quarters and was the strongest growth since the first quarter of 2007. Spending strengthened very broadly, with nondurables and services the strongest since early 2008....
