The producer price index is weighted average of domestic and export sales price indices.  Price data are collected from a questionaire on industrial products and services.  Survey responders belong to the industrial branches of mining and quarrying, manufacturing, electricity, gas, and water supply.

End-use groupings: Beginning from year 1998 the basis of the end-use groups are the industrial sub-branches as (3-digit level) corresponding to the prescription of European Union (Main Industrial Groupings).

Index technique: First step is the computation of price relatives of each representative for the reference month. Following this the indices of commodity groups are computed as the simple arithmetical average of price relatives of representatives, then the price indices of industrial branches are computed as a weighted arithmetical average of indices for commodity groups. The weight is the annual sales value in the base year (two years before the reference year) for both appropriate sales directions.
