Data is obtained using a sample survey using the CSB annual report form 1-trade (motor vehicles) "Report on Wholesale, Retail Trade and Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles." All economically active sectors of wholesale, retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles are included in the data and are sale of cars and light motor vehicles, sale of other motor vehicles, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles, wholesale trade of motor vehicle parts and accessories, retail trade of motor vehicle parts and accessories, and sale, mainenance and repair of motorocycles and related parts.
Data is compared to Structural Business Statistics, but as that source uses different data smapling and processing methods, the two data sets contain slight variations but do not differ by more than 5%.

- Retail trade
- Resale of new and used goods (sale without transformation) by stores, kiosks, market trading places, etc., as well as retail trade by firms taking mail-orders, street vendors and peddlers, consumer co-operatives, auction houses, etc., mainly to the general public for personal or household consumption or utilization.
- Sale, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles; retail sale of automotive fuel
- In this group is included retail sale and wholesale of new and used motor vehicles and motorcycles and parts thereof, activity of commission trade agents related to retail sale and wholesale, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles. Monthly data are shown excluding maintenance and repair of motor vehicles, but quarterly information includes also maintenance and repair of motor vehicles. Motor vehicle and motorcycle trade enterprise is company, which main activity is retail sale and wholesale of motor vehicles and motorcycles and parts thereof. Automotive fuel retail trade enterprise is company, which main activity is automotive fuel trade.
- Wholesale
- Wholesale is the resale of new and used goods (sale without transformation) to retail traders or other wholesale enterprises, professional users and institutions. Wholesale middlemen, agent or broker activities are also included. Wholesale enterprise is company, which main activity is the resale of new and used goods (sale without transformation) to retail traders or other wholesale traders, professional users or institutions.
- Services
- In the service group are included fallowing groups and sections: maintenance and repair of motor vehicles, repair of individual use articles, repair of household goods, wholesale and commission trade (excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles), transport, storage and communications, real estate activities, renting, computer services, science and other commercial services, education, health, public and individual services. Service enterprise is company, which main activity is to provide services.
Turnover: In turnover are included sums on which inspected unit (merchant) wrote bills in the reference period, and it correspond to the sale of delivered goods or provided services for the third party. In the turnover are included also all other payments provided by the client. The VAT and similar subtracted taxes are excluded.

- Index is numeral indicator, which indicates important changes of some social or economic phenomenon. It is the indicator of one phenomenon in two stages.
- Turnover Index
- Indicator which in percent expresses turnover changes in the certain enterprise group in a set period of time. Indices are calculated over previous period, over corresponding period of previous year and over average monthly/quarterly turnover of base year. Base period of turnover indices is average monthly/quarterly turnover of 2000 which is recalculated as average arithmetic indicator from 12 months/4 quarters indicators. Turnover index characterizes development of goods and services market.
- Turnover index in current and constant prices
- Turnover index in current and constant prices shows the turnover changes in relevant period, when the turnover is at prices of the relevant period. This indicator shows changes, when the turnover of each period is taken in prices of reference period and the price changes are not taken into consideration. Turnover index at constant prices shows the turnover changes in relevant period, when the turnover is recalculated in the prices of basic period. Basis 2015= 100. As deflator is used consumer price index, which is for the relevant commodity or service group. This indicator shows turnover changes, if the prices stayed stabile in reference time period.
