Release Information

The labor force framework provides a statistical measure of persons who are employed and unemployed at a given point of time.

The working age population is defined as persons age 15 to 64 years who are employed, unemployed or outside the labour force.

A person will be considered as employed if he or she during the reference week worked at least one hour for pay, profit or family gain. Persons who did not work during the reference week because of illness, injury, disability, bad weather, leave, labor dispute, and social or religious reasons, but had a job to return to, are also classified as "employed", as are those on temporary lay-off with pay. Leave includes holiday or vacation, educational or training leave and maternity or paternity leave.

Data is revised each month when new data becomes available.
