Release Information

Annual registered total income for resident persons.  Sum of work income, property income (interest, dividends, capital gains), transfers (taxable and tax-free).  Before taxes and negative transfers.

The "annual personal income" series LWLIPSUA.INOR is an aggregate figure (expressed in millions of NOK), from StatBank table 07778 (previously 04765), the Income Account.  This table also counts the number of persons receiving each class of income.

The "average gross personal income" series LWLINGATTUA (national and subnational) is expressed per-taxpayer (in NOK), and is based on the tax rolls.  The related concept LWQINGATTUA describes the number of persons on the tax rolls in each area.  The two can be multiplied to compute aggregate gross personal income.

Definitions:

"Disability benefits" include permanent disability pensions, preliminary disability benefits, time-limited disability benefits, and means-tested child supplement for receivers of time-limited disability benfits (from 2007).

Sickness benfits are from the National Insurance Scheme.  Holiday payments from sickness benefits are  included (some 250,000 persons received only holiday payment from sickness benefits in 2008).

The "taxable transfers" category includes parental benefits, annuities, introduction benefits for newly-arrived refugees, and qualification benefits (from 2008).  Conversely, "tax-free transfers" includes the childcare and education benefits to single  parents, lump sum maternity grants, compensation for work injury, and received child support managed by public arrangement.

"Negative transfers" include paid child support managed by public arrangement, paid annuities, and mandatory contributions to private pension plan.
