For Spain, the Population Now Cast constitutes a statistical approximation of the population resident in Spain, its Autonomous Communities and provinces, at each moment, in which use is made of the latest available information on the demographic evolution of the country. Its results are used at the INE as a reference population in household and population surveys, and when calculating all types of indicators (demographic, economic, etc.) and are transmitted as population figures for Spain, for all effects, on an international level.

Results are presented for the resident population, broken down by Autonomous Community and province, with reference to the first day of each month of the current year, by sex, year of birth and age. Thus, a summary is provided on the estimated evolution of each basic demographic phenomenon that gives rise to such population figures.
Since 2010, details have also been provided of estimated annual migratory flows by sex, year of birth, age, nationality, origin and destination.
