Motivation: Our national source, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), reports subnational labor force status at a quarterly frequency, but in not seasonally adjusted (NSA) terms and with limited history (from 2012).
Response: For international consistency, we have estimated the labor force status quartet seasonally adjusted (SA) and with extended history (by 22 years).
Properties
- Measurements: Thousands of persons (Ths. #) or percent of labor force (%)
- Adjustment: Seasonally adjusted (SA)
- Geo coverage:
- All states (26)
- Federal district (1)
- Start date: 1991Q1
The series reside in the historical catalog (Brazil » Labor and wages » Labor force status » Moody's Analytics Estimated » Quarterly) and include, for example:
- RLBFQ.IBRA_SP = Labor force, (Ths. #, SA) - for State of São Paulo
- RLBEQ.IBRA_RJ = Employed, (Ths. #, SA) - for State of Rio de Janeiro
- RLBUQ.IBRA_BA = Unemployed, (Ths. #, SA) - for State of Bahia
- RLBRQ.IBRA_DF = Unemployment rate, (%, SA) - for Distrito Federal
Because catalog locations are subject to change, the upper-right search box on DataBuffet.com provides a "find in catalog" mode that accepts a mnemonic.
Method: Please refer to the background documentation in Mnemonic 411.
