Release Information
The Industrial Production indices (IPI) are compiled by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV). The indices cover production volume and value of the private manufacturing sector. 2007 is the reference year and basis for comparison in accordance with the National Accounts data.
A Producer's Price Index (PPI) is reported in conjunction with the IPI data.
For all indices, detailed data stratified by product category is also provided.
Industrial production indices are provided by Volume and by Value, and are calculated using the Laseyres method.
The Producer's Price Index is calculated using the Paasche method.
The data on production are obtained from sample surveys of 1,077 incorporated enterprises with five (5) or more employees located in the five major cities of the country (Caracas Metropolitan Area, Maracay, Valencia, Barquisimeto, and Maracaibo) and their surrounding areas.
