Release Information

Description

Producer Price Index for Venezuela by product classificaiton, as compiled by the Central Bank of Venezuela. Data is reported in two formats: including VAT, excluding VAT. Monthly from 2007.

Currently, the base year of the index is 2007.

Methodology

The Producer Price Index is obtained using data from the Monthly Price Surveys of the Private Manufacturing Sector, which gather information from 1,077 establishments located in the 5 major cities of the country (Caracas Metropolitan Area, Maracay, Valencia, Barquisimeto, and Maracaibo) and their surrounding areas.

The basket surveyed is disaggregated into Divisions, Group and Class of Activity. The establishments report price information on 6,362 specific leading products and 327 product lines (7 digits). The base year of this indicator is 1997, in accordance with the new base of the System of National Accounts.
